Sheri Glasgow, the 2007 Toyota Tundra Women's Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year recently received a fully loaded Toyota Tundra from Toyota of Muskogee in recognition of her title. The two-tone Crewmax was a reality check for the Oklahoma angler.
"All the congratulations and awards are the verbal part of winning, but when someone hands you the keys to a new truck, that's when you know it's real," she said. "All the emotions from last season came back."
During the five-event season, Glasgow placed in the Top 5 in every event. She took the points lead after a win at Lake Dardanelle, and never looked back. She had third place finishes at Lake Amistad in Texas and the Red River in Louisiana before finishing second at Kentucky and Barkley lakes.
"This has been a very blessed experience for me," she said. "This is above and beyond my highest expectations. It's honestly the prettiest truck I've ever seen."
She is currently third in the 2008 Toyota Tundra WBT Angler of the Year race, but acknowledges that the title is hers to lose.
"With the way the points are now, anything could happen at any time," Glasgow said. "I was leading a few years ago after three events, then I couldn't catch a fish during the fourth and fifth. I had completely lost it. You need to always be on top of your game.
"Winning this truck is more than just a car in the driveway. It reminds me that I can be successful and gives me a boost of confidence whenever I get in it. Winning Angler of the Year isn't easy; otherwise I'd have done it years ago."
Glasgow looks forward to the final events of the 2008 WBT season at Clarks Hill in Georgia and Lake Hamilton in Arkansas.
"There are some tough girls I'll have to beat, but I think I'm fully capable of winning it again," she says. "The door is open. I just have to walk through it."
