Second Day of Bassmaster Southern Open in South Carolina Canceled

Second day of Southern open canceled due to weather.

 SUMMERTON, S.C. — Due to unsafe weather conditions, the second day of competition of the Bassmaster Southern Open event on Santee Cooper Reservoir in South Carolina was canceled.The event is expected to continue Saturday, which will be the final day of competition. The full field of 185 pros and 185 co-anglers will compete.Alabama’s Matt Herren led the pro field on the first day, Thursday, with 23 pounds, 8 ounces. Pros are vying for a first-place prize of $45,000 and a piece of the total pro payout of more than $193,000. Co-anglers are competing for a top prize of a $32,000 Triton/Mercury boat rig.The final day of the tournament will be covered on www.Bassmaster.com with live video and a live leaderboard during the weigh-in, scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.The public is invited to the 6:15 a.m. Saturday launch as well as the weigh-in at John C. Land III Boating & Sportfishing Facility in Summerton.
