Louisiana state team set

Louisiana’s state team for 2015 is set, after a September tournament on the Calcasieu River.

LAKE CHARLES, La. — Louisiana’s state team for 2015 is already set, after a September tournament on the Calcasieu River.

The fall qualifier included anglers from clubs across the state. David Cavell, a member of the Ascension Area Anglers, topped all other anglers in this two-day tournament with 15.87 pounds. This win, plus his win at the spring tournament, cinched the Louisiana B.A.S.S. Nation Angler of The Year title for Cavell.

This past summer, Cavell also won Louisiana’s top spot at the 2014 Old Milwaukee B.A.S.S. Nation Central Divisional on Oklahoma’s Lake Eufaula. This win advanced Cavell to the 2014 Old Milwaukee B.A.S.S. Nation Championship, where he placed 17th overall.

Joining Cavell on the Louisiana state team for 2015 are Blake Betz, Ascension Area Anglers; Rodney Cormier, Evangeline Bass Busters; Jeffery Lemoine, Cypress County Bassmasters; Samuel Anthony, North Pass Bassmasters; Jashua Alleman, Grandpoint Bassmasters; Ryan Lavigne, Ascension Area Anglers; Jamie Laiche, Ascension Area Anglers; Doug Guins, Southwest Bassmasters of Iowa; Rob Werner, Lake Verret Bass Club; Cary Beard, Ascension Area Anglers, and Robbie Latuso, Baton Rouge Bassmasters.

This state team will travel to Ridgeland, Miss., in June 2015 to compete in the 2015 Old Milwaukee B.A.S.S. Nation Divisional. There, the team will fish against teams from seven other states plus Mexico; the top competitor from each team will advance to the 2015 Old Milwaukee B.A.S.S. Nation Championship.

Louisiana’s two qualifiers in 2015 will be held Feb. 26-March 1 on Toledo Bend and Sept. 24-27 on the Atchafalaya River.
