‘It’s a keeper!’

In this article, you can read about the timely new arrival in the Wolak family.

Toyota Team member Dave Wolak, and wife Jess, have been anticipating the arrival of their new baby for the entire 2006 Elite Series season. When the schedule was announced, the Wolaks knew that come July, Dave would be near their Warrior Run, Pa., home should the baby come early.

Throughout the tournaments at Oneida Lake and Champlain, Dave maintained a vigilant 'call home' routine, feeling certain that he would be hearing the impending, "Come home, NOW!" words from his wife. He fish both tournaments, however, without those words being uttered.

Instead, Jake David Wolak elected to make his arrival on Tues., July 18, 2006. He weighed 9.1 pounds and was 22 inches long. "I didn't do bad on the scales that day," proclaimed David. "He came right around her due date, and we decided to induce the labor just to be sure everyone would be around.

"Everything was perfect — I'm just really glad that it all worked out the way that it did. Jess' mom and my mother are there with her this week while I'm at Wylie, and her dad will be back home from business travel this week too. It all worked out really, really well."

On his prediction as to whether or not he would be able to add any assistance during that actual birth, Wolak had this to say, "Well, I pitched in maybe a little more than I thought. I had to indulge my curiosity maybe more that I would have thought, but I pretty much stayed up by Jess' head the whole time."
