Evers will fish with bamboo

Elite Series pro Edwin Evers has inked a sponsorship deal with apparel-maker Tasc Performance.

When Edwin Evers fishes the 2012 Bassmaster Classic and Bassmaster Elite Series, he’ll be fishing with bamboo! No, the graphite in Evers’ high performance rods will not be replaced with bamboo, but the polyester fibers in his clothing will. And you could win a chance to fish with the 11-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier later this month, courtesy of one of his new sponsors.

Evers has recently formed a sponsorship agreement with tasc performance apparel company based in New Orleans that utilizes a unique natural fabric engineering process involving bamboo pulp and organic cotton to create a moisture wicking and anti-odor line of performance clothing for men and women. Plus, perhaps the greatest benefit to anglers is the UPF 50 sun protection that’s a part of each lightweight garment tasc offers.

Speaking of athletic women, Evers is married to one. Her name is Tuesday.  She’s a former college scholarship softball player who bikes for exercise and is currently training for the Ragnar Relay. Tuesday isn’t bashful about her fondness for tasc’s bamboo performance technology.

“When Edwin received his first shirts from tasc, I felt how soft they were and how stylish they looked, and I was sort of jealous. So I went online and ordered three shirts for myself,” said Tuesday. “I wore them to jog in and I loved how they wicked moisture and were so soft on my skin, so I ordered several more.”

While her husband Edwin still looks capable of playing defensive back as he once did collegiately, obviously it’s professional fishing, not football, where Evers has blazed a very bright career. Tasc performance provides the kind of all-season comfort that Evers feels will enhance his performance. “When you’re comfortable, you perform better. It’s as simple as that. Wearing tasc keeps me dry and protects me from the insane amount of sun we endure on the water,” said Evers.

“Plus, it’s made of naturally anti-microbial fibers so it doesn’t stink after you’ve sweat in it for 12-hours, which means Tuesday might actually be willing to give me hug at the end of a long practice day,” grinned Evers, who finished the past two seasons ranked second in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race.

If you’d like to win a free trip to fish with Edwin and hang out with the other top pros during the last days of October at Lake Conroe in Texas, be sure to enter the tasc sweepstakes at http://www.tascperformance.com/evers.
