Dyment Pond gets a makeover

The Barrie Bassmasters and friends removed a 20 yard bin of garbage from the pond and its banks.

The Ontario Barrie Bassmasters club started a new project in spring 2011 — the cleanup of Dyment Pond.

“The pond is tucked away near downtown Barrie has been neglected for many years and had become a dumping ground,” said Dave Major.

Members of the Barrie Bassmasters, along with the junior club, family and friends, made this pond their personal project.

The group removed a 20-yard bin of garbage from the pond and its banks. With 40 volunteers, they dedicated a total of 120 hours to cleaning Dyment Pond.
