A 44.31-pound limit was recently weighed in during an early March tourney, including two fish heavier than the 10-pound mark. The week prior, a 37.79-pound limit was weighed in during an event where 15 teams weighed in more than 25 pounds. The regional biologist here says that the Chick is experiencing the “perfect storm” of outstanding forage base, increasing habitat, good water levels and the benefit of a Florida bass stocking program. A 13.9-pounder was caught recently, and most think the next state record (14-8) will come from here.
