Jim Howard, Alabama B.A.S.S. Federation Nation (ABFN) conservation director, represented the ABFN during the relicensing of nine dams on the Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers.

“The license for the Coosa system has been issued,” explained Howard, “with only a few peripheral issues being dealt with. The application for the license for Lake Martin dam on Tallapoosa River is under way.”

Howard added that nearly all aspects of the water bodies behind the dams are considered during the process of indentifying future water management strategies. Issues include water quality and flow, shoreline management, invasive species, recreation and permitted usage.

Howard spent approximately 40 hours on this project.
