The Haywood County Bass Club is a member of B.A.S.S. and the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation and the Tennessee State Federation Nation. We are a non-profit organization. Our mission is to promote the sport of bass fishing through friendly competitive events within our membership, to host annual local free fishing events for youth, senior citizens and disabled anglers, and to promote the conservation of the Hatchie River fishery and it's ecosystem.
As a club, we fish eight 7-hour tournaments each year, mostly on Saturdays. We fish for fun, and to learn from each other. Each angler receives points based on performance at each tournament. Ultimately, the top six point holders will qualify to fish the club classic each year and the top six by weight qualify to compete in the state tournament, which could lead to the Bassmaster Classic! There are no entry fees for our tournaments, and therefore no monetary winnings aside from an optional big bass pot.
The Haywood County Junior Bass Club was started in 2002, and has grown considerably each year. Proudly, our jr. club was the first B.A.S.S. federated jr. club in the state of Tennessee. As of 2006, our jr. club has produced three junior state champions as well as the 2006 B.A.S.S. Junior World Champion, Nick Kelly.
We invite all aspiring anglers, male and female alike, to come visit us at one of our monthly meetings. Feel no obligation to join, just come sit and observe if you prefer and we'll answer any questions you may have. We typically meet the first Monday of each month at RJ's Hibachi Restaurant in Brownsville, TN. The adult club meetings begin at 7:00 pm every month and the junior club meetings begin at 6:00 pm starting in February. If you would like more information about the adult or the junior club, please feel free to contact Joe Sills at 731-443-0343 or Brian Johnson at 731-443-4705.
