Rapala’s rockin’ X-Rap Prop

The blades on the X-Rap Prop are counter-rotating, which means that one turns to the left and one turns to the right. Rapala says that these counteracting movements stabilize the bait in the water.

What is it?

Rapala’s X-Rap Prop topwater bait.

What does it do?

It churns, spits and gurgles like most prop baits, but it’s also got the qualities of Rapala’s famous X-Rap line of hard baits.

Why do I need it?

Because you probably own every other X-Rap bait there is. Plus, the finish, hooks, and action are all first-rate.

How do I use it?

Prop baits excel around grasslines and shallow cover. Simple twitches of the rod tip (when pointed at the water) are enough to get the props churning and grab bass’ attention. You’ll get the best results when using a medium-action rod and monofilament line.

What sets it apart?

The blades on the X-Rap Prop are counter-rotating, which means that one turns to the left and one turns to the right. Rapala says that these counteracting movements stabilize the bait in the water. Plus, it’s got internal laser-etched scales with holographic foil for a good bit of flash. A feathered VMC treble dangles off the rear as well. Colors available are Gold Olive, Hot Tiger, Moss Back Shiner, Pearl Grey Shiner, Silver and Yellow Perch. Length is listed as 4 3/8-inch long and it weighs in a 3/8 ounce.

How much?

Rapala lists this prop bait at $12.49.
