Abu Garcia Revo MGXtreme

Meet Abu Garcia’s latest and possibly the greatest Revo ever, the MGXtreme.

What is it?

Abu Garcia’s latest and possibly the greatest Revo ever, the MGXtreme.

What does it do?

At the simplest level, it retrieves and casts your baits. In the long run, though, its light weight will keep you from becoming fatigued and the casting control offers ridiculously long casts even into a headwind.

How do I use it?

Like you would any other reel!

What sets it apart?

If you take the Revo MGX, the previous flagship Revo, and put it on a diet, you’ve got the MGXtreme. It weighs in at a scant 4.9 ounces, has 10 bearings, seven of which are stainless steel and two that are CeramiLite Spool Bearings and a roller bearing. The Carbon matrix drag is a holdover from the MGX, but the C6 carbon sideplate offers a nice weight savings and the IVCB-IV (that’s Infinitely Variable Centrifugal Brake) offers some of the most precise casting adjustment there is. Round EVA foam knobs give a solid purchase and the aircraft-grade aluminum main gear provides weight reduction without sacrificing durability.

How much?

$499
