2003 changed my life

Dec 17, 2010

Hey guys, several of you have asked me why I spent two weeks on the Delta this winter. Here's the answer: Part of it is because I really want to win this year. Classic opportunities only come along so often. You have to take full advantage of them.

Thinking positive

Dec 10, 2010

I'm still on the Delta getting ready for February. I wish I could report I'm catching a lot of big ones, but the truth is I'm spending about 80 percent of my time eliminating water. That's not all bad, though.

The new Delta

Dec 3, 2010

I'm on the Louisiana Delta getting ready for the Classic. Is this place ever different! I feel like I've never been here before even though this is where I won the Classic back in 2003. The storms and the response to them have really changed things.

Babies and bass

Nov 12, 2010

Becky here. It's Thursday and Mike's out on the water fishing, so I'm going to fill in for him. A fellow won a day on the water with him through the USO. They picked today (Thursday, Nov. 11). That's kind of neat isn't it? It's fitting that the USO winner is going out with Mike on Veterans Day. It couldn't be any better.

The final touches

Nov 5, 2010

Last week we designed new lures. This week we'll test and tweak them.

On the cutting edge

Nov 1, 2010

This week we're going to talk about a dream I've had for a longtime; making new lures. I started messing with them when I was about 10 years old. I'd use a butane lighter to melt plastics together to make new shapes and designs. When I wasn't doing that, I was refinishing hardbaits with fingernail polish.

Late fall baits, Part 2

Oct 15, 2010

It's important to remember that these fish are still feeding heavily. With that in mind, I start with something that moves and elicits a reaction bite. For me that's a LaserLure crankbait. I want one that runs just a little deeper than the underwater structure and that matches the hatch.

Late fall baits, part 1

Oct 8, 2010

This topic gets two parts because it's a little bit complicated, and because it's the one time of the year that you can have the best day of your life on the water.

Never stop learning

Oct 1, 2010

We at The Bass University adopted "Never Stop Learning" as our motto because we believe that bass fishing is a never ending educational process. No matter how long we fish, or at what level we fish, we'll never know it all.

Late fall; the road back

Sep 24, 2010

Depending upon what part of our country you're fishing, the late fall bite is just around the corner or it's still a few weeks away. Regardless, now's the time to start thinking about it.
