On May 17 the Illinois B.A.S.S. Nation held the last Bassmaster High School team tournament for the 2013-2014 season. Lake Springfield has been a great fishery for years and Joliet Central high school would prove just how good it is. Joliet Central’s team of Artie Dick and Sean Cook showed up and took top honors. Their first place weight of 11.57 pounds was topped off with the Big Bass for the event at 3.85 pounds. In second place were Dailus Richardson and Trevor McKinney. Third place went to David McCauley and Mathew Zadorozny and in fourth were Joe Schafer and Steven Callahan.
These high school anglers secured a spot in the IBN State Championship that will be held on Lake Springfield on June 29th. The top 2 teams from the State Championship will move on to the Bassmaster High School Championship where they will compete for $60k in college scholarship and a loaded Triton boat. The top team from the State Championship will also fish with the IBN State Team at the B.A.S.S. Nation Northern Divisional Tournament.
