Not your standard Elite

There are a couple things going on today that are a little different than your standard Elite.

The standings show that anglers either smoked them or fell on their face yesterday.

After today, the top 50 get a day off. And if you figure the standard cut of doubling 50th place weight, then adding a pound or two, no one is in that cut yet.

50th place at the moment is 13 pounds and change. Whether it doubles or not remains to be seen. River systems throw wrenched into those standards.

Still most of the field has pressure on them. All of them want a day off. Some of them have no chance at that, but in order to get paid they are wanting to build as much weight as possible on the Chick today.  Then if they do well on Nickajack, they will be in a better position of moving up and possibly even making the top 12.

Guys are so crowded that an angler who struggled yesterday could have a sweet spot to themselves and do real damage on Saturday if he can just get there.

A guy who zeroed on Day One or close to it is fighting for that upper teen or 20 pound bag, just for a chance.

That's not any different than in an Elite where points for AOY standings are critical. But with 33 additional boats, no worries about points for anyone then there are a ton of anglers letting it all hang out this morning.
