Weather watch

Championship Sunday will bring a weather change that will very likely prove pivotal to the leaders.

The forecast calls for the wind to blow from the northeast from 10-15 mph. Anywhere else but here that is a tolerable wind. Here you can add a multiplier of 2 to the speed and how that velocity affects the wide-open Okeechobee.

What all of that means is dirtier water to the south, where leader Timmy Horton and Dean Rojas are fishing. Florida bass don’t like dirty water and they will shut down. Anglers don’t like too much wind because it makes seeing bedding areas difficult.

To the south is a pre-spawn bite and up north it’s mostly post-spawn. For those anglers the Monkey Box and protected areas on the north shore could improve.
