I followed the Northern Division crew to a beautiful backwater filled with stumps and laydowns. So far, though, it looks prettier than it fishes. The guys haven't boated a fish yet, although they've missed a couple. There are a few shad popping the water, and this spot looks like a textbook setup for fall fishing. I'm about to try to find another boat that's a little upstream.
I caught up with the Central Division anglers about 30 minutes ago and followed them. Like the others, they say there's no clear pattern emerging but that they're catching a few fish. I'm about to head back to the ramp so I can write up a more thorough report on today's JWC practice round.
