At 1 p.m., there wasn’t a 20-pound bag on the BASSTrakk board today. That doesn’t mean there hasn’t been one caught. Some anglers, like Skeet Reese, who had 20-8 yesterday, don’t have a marshal today, so no BASSTrakk phone.
But there were 10 bags of 20-pounds-plus weighed yesterday. Most of the anglers have a 5-bass limit already, so it’s going to take some bigger fish for them to cull up to 20 pounds. Maybe the wind is having an effect. Or maybe the final couple of hours will produce some game-changers, as happened yesterday.
Longtime St. Louis Cardinals/Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray had a saying, “Big possums walk late.” It was a reference to big hitters producing late in the game. We’ll see if the big bass (possums) bite late today.
