Rojas on a roll

Dean Rojas began his day with a 5-pounder, and now he's added another at 9:29. That gives the AOY leader a 5-bass limit weighing about 21 pounds in the first 3 hours and 15 minutes of this tournament.

Rojas, by the way, caught three more fish within minutes after that last 5-pounder, but 2- and 3-pounders won't help him now.

Twenty pounds a day – that's probably the magic number if you expect to be contending on Day 4.

Two years ago, when Brandon Palaniuk won with 88-12, Jonathon VanDam was second with 81-4. Ott DeFoe finished third with 78-10. Steve Kennedy had big bag for the tournament with 23-14 on Day 3.

Palaniuk had two daily weights topping 23 pounds – 23-9 on Day 1 and 23-5 on Day 4. Remember, however, Palaniuk was making the long run west to Lake Ontario, which is off-limits this year.

There were 13 limits weighing 20 pounds or more on Day 1 (August 8th) in 2013. Ninety-five of the 99 anglers weighed a 5-bass limit.
