Blue skies and the bass are biting

As you can see from the photos in this blog, it's nothing but blue skies over the St. Lawrence River now, and the smallmouth bass appear to be having a celebratory feast in the sunshine. Fish-catches on the Twitter feed are coming in rapid fire. The leaderboard is shifting in response.

Jacob Powroznik is the latest with a big move up. A 3-12 at 11:30 gives him 19-8, behind unofficial leader Dean Rojas' 21-0. Bobby Lane is catching 'em too. A 4 1/2-pounder at 11:17 gave him an estimated 19-4. Kevin Ledoux landed a 5-pounder at 10:48 to give him 18-8. That matches Randy Howell's estimated weight of 18-8. Skeet Reese is 6th with 18-0.

Since it's starting to appear that the numbers from the 2013 tournament will be matched this week, keep these to figures in mind: 17-1 and 19-6. It took a two-day average of 17-1 to make the top 50 cut in '13 and a three-day average of 19-7 to make the top 12.
