Who will be the prince of tides?

This will be said over and over again the next two days in one form or the other; how this event plays out has everything to do with the tides.

Unfortunately the best part of the tides, the big-fish catching part of the tide is getting later everyday.

Scattered around these pages are references of all the big fish caught in the last few minutes of each day. That's when the tide first starts coming back in.

Because these guys are starting so far away from the launch it really doesn't allow much time for guys to play with getting in a better position for the tide.

They have to start every day pretty much committed with a plan. And if the tides and fish don't come together then things get dicey.

That's why you've seen some guys you would expect in the top of the standings falter or not make a good showing at all.

Now with the "best" tide starting at virtually the same time these guys need to be headed back north, we could see much more of that up and down in the standings on a day when every angler outside the top 12 feels like it's worth the effort to make a gamble. And those inside could be just trying to hold on.

Those of you watching today on BassTrakk, pay attention to those big moves in the final minutes. It could provide a lot of excitement and it just might give us a glimpse of how this could play out on Sunday: A bottom of the ninth, full count and two outs kind of home run type thing.
