Jason Christie vs. Ernest T. Bass

There was a preview, Elite Series version, of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight on the Sacramento River this week. When Jason Christie was idling through a shallow, swimming area on Day 1, a man on the bank began "colorfully expressing" anger toward Christie, yelling for him to slow down.

"I guess he got mad about my prop wash," Christie said. "I had to trim the motor all the way up almost just to get through there. It was too shallow to be going any faster than idle speed."

Christie went on about his business, despite the verbal abuse. Then the the dude went all Ernest T. Bass on him.

"I heard a ker-sploosh, right by my boat," Christie said. "He'd thrown a rock at me."

Big one?

"Pretty big," said Christie, who is difficult to rile.

As in the Mayweather-Pacquiano fight, there were no damaging blows struck.

"I haven't seen Ernest T. again this week," Christie said Saturday. "I've been by there every day this week, and every time I do, I go as far to the left as I can — out of rock-throwing distance."
