The day is done for most

With the first flight due to check-in at 3:20, the second flight at 3:40, and a 1 1/2-hour boat ride ahead of them, most of the anglers are done for the day. It appears there will be about a 12- to 12 1/2-pound spread between first place and 12th place for Sunday's finale. Ish Monroe thinks any margin of 10 pounds or less can be easily overcome.

"Ten and under is definitely within striking distance on the Delta," Monroe said Friday. "I had 23 pounds today and I had two 2 1/2-pounders in my bag. I worked on one that was 10 (pounds). If I could have caught that one and one of those other big ones I saw, I'd be leading this thing right now.

"Look at what Skeet did. He had 25 pounds (Thursday) and came in with what, 12 pounds today? It's that easy to drop on the Delta, as well."

We've seen more evidence of that today: 1) Timmy Horton has made up about 10 pounds on first place with his 23-pound bag; 2) It looks like Chris Zaldain will finish with only about 7 pounds, after weighing 30-7 on Day 1 and 20-7 on Day 2.

One final note, Kevin VanDam caught a 5-pounder at 1:51 to put him in the Top 12, according to BASSTrakk.
