Cool morning in central Cali; Zaldain’s diet plan

The big ol' nearly-full moon made for a nice backdrop before the 6:15 takeoff this morning at Discovery Park. We haven't seen a cloud since we got here, and that won't change today. However, the morning began with sweatshirt weather – 52 degrees with a south wind at 7 mph. A high of 82 is expected. The wind is forecast to shift to the south/southwest about 10 a.m. and increase to about 10 mph by the 3:15 check-in time. With all the twists and turns in the California Delta, wind affects some areas while appearing nonexistent in others. Chris Zaldain might experience a bumpy ride on his long run to the south Delta today, where he hasn't fished since practice.

"Thirty pounds one day, 20 the next and 10 the next," said Zaldain, referring to his rapidly falling daily bag weights the last three days. "It's great for a diet plan, sucky for a tournament. In practice I established an awesome plan on high water, and high water only. So I'm going to run as far away from the Golden Gate Bridge as I can and try to work that high water."
