Lowen feels right at home

Bill Lowen calls Brookville, Ind., home, but he's right at home on a river, any river. He was one of two anglers (Ish Monroe was the other) who caught a five-bass limit all four days on the Sabine River in 2013, when Lowen finished fifth.

BASSTrakk shows him at the top of the leaderboard now with a limit weighing 12-4. If that's accurate, it would mark a better day than any he had two years ago, when 10-14 on Day 4 was the only time he hit double digits in pounds.

When local Elite Series pro Dennis Tietje was picking likely contenders for the title this week, Lowen's name was near the top of his list.
