Greg Vinson caught a 5-pounder at 1:30 that moved him near today's seemingly magic 17-pound mark. The five anglers above him on BASSTrakk all have 17-something.
Vinson is quietly having a heck of year. He finished 22nd last week to move into third place in the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings. Vinson placed eighth at Lake Guntersville and 20th on the Sabine River in the other two tournaments. Going into this event, he trailed AOY leader Dean Rojas by only 17 points.
