BASSTrakk showed Justin Lucas in 4th place at 10 a.m., up from 26th place where he started the day. If Lucas manages to make the Top 12 cut, he will truly be the hottest angler on the Elite Series. Lucas is coming off that dramatic win last Sunday in front of his family and friends in Sacramento.
He mentioned onstage Thursday that he was as tired as he's ever been in his life. But he is apparently the Energizer Bunny of the Elite Series. By making the two-day cut, Lucas has extended his streak of cashing a check in every tournament since Toledo Bend in May 2014. Ah, youth.
Maybe Justin got a pep talk from his brother Kevin, who is trying to make it as a professional golfer. As Kevin mentioned last Sunday, "Justin and I can relate on a lot of levels because we both play a sport for a living. We both go on long drives to tournaments. We'll get on the phone and talk for hours about how each of us can get better."
