And they’re off!

The first flight of the 112 anglers in this event took off at 6:15 a.m. under clear skies, 55-degree temperatures and considerable wind, but not as considerable as it's going to be before the day is over. It was blowing at 10 miles per hour at takeoff, headed for nearly 30 mph by the 3:15 check-in time today.

Both Dean Rojas, who lives here, and Skeet Reese said the wind wouldn't affect their game plans today.

"It always blows out here," Rojas said. "It's no big deal."
