Tale of two halves, like a football game

Championship Sunday is going to play out like a football game.

This will be a tale of two halves, due to the tides and the difference in the areas where Aaron Martens and Bill Lowen are fishing. Lowen has dominated the first half, when the tide was in his favor. High tide at the north end of Chesapeake Bay is going to be around noon. Lowen can catch fish on high tide as long as the water is flowing, but he's about to hit that deadly slack-water period, when nothing bites.

For Martens, the second half is just starting. It was like he was trying to pass the football downfield into the wind this morning, due to the tide that peaked about 8:30. It is just now starting to get right for him, but he essentially finds himself down 8 pounds at intermission.

That doesn't mean someone other than Martens or Lowen can't win this tournament. They're just the prime examples of how much the tide changes dictate the day.
