Returning to takeoff

This morning before takeoff, Pete Robbins and I headed toward the Susquehanna Flats, which are kind of legendary in these parts. It's just five miles or so from the takeoff and we expected it to quickly fill up with tourney boats.

But 30 minutes after take off we hadn't seen but a few boats come out of the creek we took off from.

I thought something was wrong. We eventually worked our way back towards the takeoff and built a gallery.

After getting that in, I started back out on the water and you would think it was the last 10 minutes of the day.

You know that time when several boats head in and try a few last-second casts in Hail Mary fashion?

It looks just like that near the takeoff. And they are catching fish too.

They include Boyd Duckett, Fletcher Shryock, J. Todd Tucker, Gerald Swindle, Kenyon Hill, Gary Klien, Tommy Biffle, David Walker and Stephen Browning.

If these guys have been here all day, they couldn't have burned more than a tea cup of gas between them.
