Want to know more about Lake Barkley?

We're watching Randy Howell, Alton Jones, Mike Kernan and Terry Scroggins fish. It's a little like watching paint dry at the moment – no catching going on for a long spell. So I spent a little time learning about Lake Barkley – courtesy of this thing we call the Internet.

Barkley is 134 miles long and covers 58,000 acres. It's a reservoir of the Cumberland River, and was formed in 1966 when the Corp of Engineers completed Barkley Dam. The lake has 1,004 miles of shoreline.

North of the Dam the Cumberland runs 38 miles and empties into the Ohio River.

Lake Barkley was named for Alben Barkley, a senator from Kentucky who became Harry Truman's Vice President.

Come on down, it's a beautiful place!
