Second Chance all about AOY points

After catching only a 1-pound, 13-ounce bass Thursday, after having 17-15 the day before at Kentucky Lake, Mike Iaconelli wasn't in a great mood at the Day 2 weigh-in. But he was fired up about the idea of having a second chance at Lake Barkley this morning.

"It's nice for the guys that stunk, like me," Iaconelli said. "I'm going to end up in the 100s (actually he's in 98th place). It's a chance to get 51st to 60th place points. That's a great thing. I like it from that aspect. I don't like it from the aspect that I don't have a chance to win (at Kentucky Lake). It's all about the points.

"I'd rather leave here with 60th place points than 100th place points. So I'm going to go out there and fish my ass off. I don't know what it will take. I'm assuming it won't take as much since nobody has much experience (at Barkley). I'd say 15, 16 pounds, maybe."

The top 10 anglers in this 74-man field will resume fishing on Kentucky Lake Saturday. But their weights from the first two days there will carryover to Day 3. With 19-12 at Kentucky Lake, Iaconelli has no chance to gain much ground on the top 50, who aren't fishing today. But 64 of the guys fishing today on Barkley won't be fishing Kentucky Lake on Saturday. And anyone from this field who qualifies for another day at Kentucky Lake can make up lots of ground on the guys who won't have a boat in the water Saturday. Final points will be distributed based on the total weight each angler caught at Kentucky Lake during BASSfest.
