As the stories of hot starts on Kentucky Lake keep mounting, Brandon Lester sits atop that list. Lester caught a 5-bass limit in less than 20 minutes this morning. From 6:42 until 6:59 Lester landed a limit weighing about 20 1/2 pounds, including a 5 1/2-pounder, a 5-0, and a 4-7.
In talking to some of the anglers who were puzzled by the way Kentucky Lake was fishing during practice this week, no one doubted that a flurry like Lester's would happen. The doubt was about how many other guys would have flurries like that.
"If you're on one of those spots, you can catch 'em in a hurry," said Kevin VanDam. "There just aren't that many of them out there, I don't think. To see the weights we normally see here – across the field – it's not going to happen this week."
