Keep an eye on the cutline

The 108-angler field will be cut to the to the top 50 after today's weigh-in. Brett Hite, last week's winner at Lake Seminole, and Ish Monroe shared the 49th and 50th spots yesterday with 13 pounds, 13 ounces. If that number holds, it would be slightly higher than at the 2011 and '12 Elite Series events at the St. Johns River.

But consistency may be hard to come by in this event, when so many anglers are concentrated in one area. We aren't seeing the number of fish caught this morning as we did yesterday. But it's still early. Mike Kernan just landed the first quality fish we've seen – one that looked to be in the 8-pound range.
