Shortened day makes it interesting

Brett Hite had  only three fish weighing  a total of 5 pounds at 1 p.m. yesterday. Granted, that was the first day he hadn't caught his fish early, and he still finished with 26 pounds. And this is a different day, with wind and clouds, unlike the high skies and dead calm that perplexed him most of yesterday.

But the early 1 p.m. check-in time announced this morning  sets up an interesting scenario. If anybody has a chance to catch Hite, it's probably Aaron Martens, who sacked more than 29 pounds yesterday. That's why Steve Bowman, boat driver Paul Tyre and I are following Martens today. He's fishing a ditch near where Spring Creek and the Flint River enter Lake Seminole.
