Davis says it’s a grind

I spent a few minutes visiting with Mark Davis last night. He's fished this lake many times but he's far from an expert on this lake. But he's good no matter where he is.
He was optimistically confident last night that he could catch a decent limit. But he said that it was a typical Arkansas River grind.
That typically means that you have to be ready for anything and everything, moving and grooving with the flow all day long.
The fish aren't completely in a post-spawn mode, still in transition.
That means unlike many of the places we fish, where schools of fish are found. Here it's one here and one there.
With single fish, things are changing constantly.
As an example, we just tripped up on Alton Jones and the first thing he said was the water temp had dropped 20 degrees since practice, from 83 in the shallow backwater to 63.
That's what a cold front will do for you in Arkansas. Most of the pros seen to think the impacts won't last long. As the change progresses, though, the anglers who changes with it will likely be those at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the day.
Then chances are it'll change again tomorrow.
