Decision

We had a decision to make this morning between being a gentleman or someone caught up in their own business.  Actually a couple of times.

The first was at the ramp.  I'm getting ready to jump into the camera boat to get a head start on Edwin Evers.  As I near the boat, Aaron Martens spins in the parking lot.

He's overslept and running late.  I check up get him launched and all is good.  I have plenty of time to park his truck and get to the boat to at least get on the tail of Evers.

Then Dave Mercer says, "take off your hats for the National Anthem."

I'm between him and most of the anglers and crowd.  I can barrel out of there or like a good patriotic citizen sit there with my hand over my heart, which is what I did.

Soon as the anthem is over, the boats are released.  By the time I park and head to the boat, Evers is smoking down Cayuga.

Short story made long, we are just now pulling up on Evers.

He's quietly moved into contention in this event and for the last few years seems to be able to find the winner's circle with some regularity.

Last season he had a disastrous final event.  Looks like that won't happen this year.
