Things are changing

6:36 am CST, Feb 23, 2014 | By Pete Robbins

Ott DeFoe said that if his fish don't bite early he'll have to wrestle with whether to abandon his primary area. He said that several anglers who did well yesterday "just went fishing," so it's obvious that things are changing. His primary lure has been a Rapala DT6 crankbait in a custom color, mostly chartreuse and brown.

Chad Morgenthaler has been catching most of his fish on an XR75 one-knocker lipless crank, but yesterday he supplemented his catch by luring two of his bigger fish on a 1-ounce Lunker Lure jig. "The conditions are just about getting right for it," he said.
