We just pulled up on Morizo Shimizu, and within seconds he was yanking on a really good fish. It wasn't quite "Big Mama," but maybe you could call it "Big Sister." We estimate it at about 5 1/2 pounds. Regardless, it allowed him to cull a fish that looked to be about 3 pounds.
As I was writing those last few lines, the Japanese pro boated another good keeper. We'll call it 3 1/2 or 4 pounds, which sent him to the livewell to set free a roughly 3-pounder. It looks like Shimizu is onto something here in Siebold Creek. He has a lot of ground to cover to get back in contention, but at this rate, it's not outside the realm of possibility.
