Alabama’s 53rd governor, Robert Bentley, joined Birmingham mayor Robert Bell, one of B.A.S.S.’s owners Don Logan and B.A.S.S. CEO Bruce Akin to cut the ribbon that officially opened the Outdoor Expo.
Gov. Bentley has been an active supporter of various outdoor activities in the state, especially bass fishing.
“This is very special,” Bentley said in addressing the crowd gathered outside the Expo entrance. “This is the eighth time the Bassmaster Classic has been in Birmingham and the 12th time it has been in the state of Alabama.
“I’ve been a fisherman all my life. I love fishing. I’m honored to be here.”
