Aaron Martens just made his third short move this morning, and he quickly caught another short one.That makes about four of those today.
Randall Tharp is in this area. He caught a short one too. Martens and Tharp trolled by each other and had a short chat. Tharp said he had four keepers. The two anglers were still exchanging pleasantries when Martens set the hook.
He fought this fish, and fought it, and fought it some more.
"He's a fighter. He's not that big, but he's a fighter," Martens said.
And that proved to be correct. It was a smallmouth in the 3- to 3 1/2-pound range.
