High water on the Mississippi

You'll see from the photo that the upper Mississippi River has risen up into the trees. Heavy rains this spring in Wisconsin and north of here has pushed the river about a foot above normal. My local camera boat driver Brian Beebe says the river is now dropping because less rain has fallen in the past two weeks.

First keeper for Jaye

If you look hard, you can see Kelley Jaye deep into this field of reeds. In a normal season, where he's fishing would be dry land. Jaye just boated his first keeper of the day.

We just watched Aaron Martens spend about 10 minutes driving slowly around a small area closely studying his electronics. He stops, fishes for 10 minutes, and then studies the electronics again. He's fishing fast and clearly looking for action.

We found Kevin Ledoux on the Black River. He's got two in the livewell. He described one as decent and then showed it to us. I'm guessing it was around 2 1/2 pounds. "Not near enough," said Ledoux.
