In the above photo, that's Chris Bowes on the left and Jon Stewart on the right. Chris is serving as the tournament director for this event while Trip Weldon is taking medical leave. His day job is tournament director for the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens Series. Jon is assisting him at this event. On most days, Stewart is the tournament director for B.A.S.S. Nation.
We come across Boyd Duckett fishing near an island on the main river. He has his Power Poles down and has one in the box.
The rain persists.
Lightning is still striking in the distance. Our boat driver, Brandon Meisner, tells me another storm is coming. Meisner is retired military. He has done four tours oveseas and has seen serious action.
He loaned his phone to me so I can continue blogging. My phone has already shut down due to the rain.
Jared Miller catches a 3-pounder.
Bobby Lane has one in the livewell. Photo by Bassmaster Marshal Scott Sutter.
Mark Hicks blogging in the rain. He and I are sharing the boat for the rest of the event. His phone just went down. He is now using our camera boat driver's phone.
Just took a long drive south to launch at Stoddard Park Landing. I'll be sharing a chase boat with photographer Darren Jacobson.
The wind has blown wood debris over this gravel parking lot. The ramp is covered with duck wart. Between the ramp and the Mississippi River is a vast shallow flat of grass.
While we're launching, Jared Miller pulls in, fishes the dock at the ramp and moves on.
It is raining steadily, but not hard.
I see three roostertails in a row heading south out on the Mississippi.

We drive to Staddard to launch this morning. Rain is still coming down and there are many signs of the bad weather that has hit us.
