Isn’t it amazing? Kevin VanDam is leading the Bassmaster Classic. I have a fair number of non-bass fishing fans that ask about the sport (usually to see if you can call it a “sport”). The meat of my “sport” argument always centers around VanDam and his consistency. If it were mostly luck, or even 10 percent luck, you wouldn’t have the kind of consistency you see in some of these top anglers.
It’s become boring to talk about or to choose VanDam when you’re talking about the Classic. It’s like telling me the Lakers will be in the playoffs (wait, bad example).
Obviously, it’s earlier than early and VanDam may not win the Classic, but he’s in contention because he’s always in contention. It just makes you shake your head in amazement.
