We are starting the day with Marty Robinson. He is farther north than any of the other competitors, fishing the mouth of a creek north of San Miguel. He's casting what appears to be a jig, crawling it along the bottom of a 10-feet deep flat. He just set the hook on his first bass of the day ... A small keeper maybe going A pound and a half.
Robinson is fishing very slowly, moving his jig only an inch at a time. It looks like once his bait makes contact with a stump, he puts just enough pressure on the line to crawl it over the cover. This must be a frustrating way to fish when you know there is ground to be made up.
