The 2012 Bassmaster Classic is upon is! And if you are near Shreveport-Bossier City, La., this weekend, you should not miss this opportunity to see the world’s best bass fishermen weigh in on sportfishing’s biggest stage.
One of the greatest things about the Classic is that you don’t need tickets to attend, and the entire event is free.
Fans in attendance get free coffee and doughnuts, courtesy of the Red River Waterway Commission. Fans also get on-the-water boat demo rides, courtesy of Mercury, Nitro, Skeeter, Triton and Yamaha.
The competitors’ boats actually take off at 7 a.m. CT each day, so be sure to get there in plenty of time before that so you can interact with the contenders while they wait. It’s an up-close-and-personal experience that you can’t get anywhere else.
The Expo is held in the Shreveport Convention Center at 400 Caddo Street in Shreveport. The Expo opens Friday, Feb. 24, at noon and closes at 8 p.m. Central Time. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To travel back and forth from the Expo to the weigh-in, B.A.S.S. provides complimentary shuttles. Maps will be available at each location, but you can check it out here too.
Before the weigh-ins begin, fans are treated to activities and concerts. On Friday, Feb. 24, one fan will win a $500 Bass Pro Shops shopping spree with Rick Clunn. On Saturday, Feb. 25, fans get to watch country band Bush Hawg perform, and they’ll get a chance at winning a fishing trip with Edwin Evers courtesy of Nitro Boats or a Mercury engine, courtesy of Mercury Marine. On Sunday, Feb. 26, singer Brian Schram will perform, and fans get a chance to win Yamaha T-shirts, play in the Triton Football Toss, or be the lucky caster in the Berkley Cast for Cash (that is, $100,000!).
Did we mention this was free?
To attend the weigh-ins, go to the CenturyLink Center at 2000 CenturyTel Center Drive in Bossier City. The doors open at 3 p.m. CT all three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
