Which lake will be better?

Coming into this two-lake tournament, most anglers thought that Bull Shoals would produce bigger five-bass limits than Norfork. But according to Mountain Home resident and BassCat Boats president Rick Pierce, “Norfork has been fishing about three times better than Bull Shoals.”

Today will offer a unique opportunity to compare the two lakes with 108 of the best tournament bass fishermen in the world going from Norfork to Bull Shoals. Listen to these guys for just a little while and you’ll understand that every day is different, as far as how well the fish are biting. But, weather-wise, today and yesterday are going to be similar: No rain in the forecast, a high of 77 degrees, mostly sunny skies, light winds – NNW at 5 to 10 mph.

The one factor that hampers this comparison is the two-hour fog delay yesterday. And that is a big deal. But we’ll have ample opportunity to compare the two lakes as the tournament extends through Sunday. However, this is the last full-field day. Only the top 50 will compete again Saturday on Bull Shoals. The top 12 will go back to Norfork on Sunday.

For the record, 88 of the 108 anglers caught a five-bass limit at Norfork. The average size of the bass weighed-in was 2.25 pounds. Matt Herren’s 6-1 took big bass honors.
