After Day 1, when Wheeler Lake more than pleasantly surprised most of the Elite Series field, David Walker put it in perspective, saying, “This was the best weigh-in in the history of Wheeler Lake. I promise you. We’ve come here a million times. Always a few guys catch ‘em. I’ve never seen it where 20th place is almost 16 pounds. That’s crazy. I don’t know what to make of it.”
Apparently, we’re headed for another historic Wheeler Lake weigh-in, if the early BASSTrakk Twitter feed is any indication. Day 1 leader John Crews already has caught a 5-pounder and has two bass for 7-3, Takahiro Omori has two weighing 9-2, Bill Lowen already has a 7-pound limit and several anglers have caught four.
