Waiting up north

Jim Sexton and I are sitting on the north end of Mille Lacs waiting to see who will show on this end.

We drew the short straw. The wind is out of the south this morning and while it’s not totally rolling it does look bumpy out there.

We are sitting at the ramp watching one of those productive areas, expecting the wind to gradually pick up every hour.

If this were a normal bass derby I might be sweating it. But our boat driver, Jon Kuester, has a Nitro ZV21 walleye boat. It looks like the Queen Mary sitting behind the truck.

We will wait here another 20 or 30 minutes then move south if no one braves this end.

It doesn’t appear as if that will be a necessary trip, considering Skeet Reese has already caught two 5-pounders somewhere south of here and the second flight has yet to take off.
