Top 12 cut? 45 pounds

The 50-angler field will be cut to the Top 12 after today’s weigh-in. Based on Gerald Swindle being in 12th place with 30-14 yesterday, it appears that 15 pounds a day, or 45 pounds, would be a good prediction for the 12-cut mark.

At 11 a.m., the top 13 anglers on BASSTrakk were over 40 pounds, two others were at 39-plus and another nine anglers were over 35 pounds.

It probably doesn’t need mentioning again at this point, but before this tournament every angler in the field would have taken a 15-pounds-a-day average and bet he would win this tournament. With Takahiro Omori and Dave Lefebre over 57 pounds right now, it’s obviously going to take more than 60 pounds to win here.

One more note: The winning weights from the three previous Elite Series tournaments this year were 81-15 by Rick Clunn at the St. Johns River, 56-3 by Britt Myers at Winyah Bay and 61-10 by Randall Tharp at Bull Shoals/Norfork.
