Prayers for James “Jimmy” Johnson

Don Barone offers a prayer for the family of James "Jimmy" Johnson.

Editor’s Note: James “Jimmy” Johnson’s obituary and funeral arrangements are available online.

“Through many dangers, toils and snares…”

Dateline: “Our Father…

We have, amongst us, a fallen.

A brother.

I say a brother, even though I didn’t know Jimmy Johnson, a brother because deep in the bottom of our hearts we all know and are thinking the same thing,

it could have been any one of us.

I say a brother because when you strike one of us,

you strike us all.

All.

All of us who chase dreams, all of us who have the privilege of doing something we love.

To the family of James “Jimmy” Johnson, we grieve, we grieve for the brother we lost, we grieve for and with you.

We grieve for what it is some of us have become.

“…I have already come…”

Have we really come to the point where we kill for plastic bait.  Where we shoot a man for a rod or a reel.

Pray for us.

“…help us to conquer the menace of evil,

which so easily takes root

in the hearts of the people of today…”

Prayer for Peace

Pope John-Paul II

Believe if you believe.

Wonder if you wonder.

Faith, I guess, comes into play, right now.  Faith is the bridge between what it is we hope for, and reality.

Faith, allows us not to have to try and explain, the unexplainable.

Faith allows us to walk amongst each other.

Faith wipes up the tears.

I don’t know if I have faith, or is it what I feel, just hope.

I hope that Jimmy is now free from the menace of evil, I hope that someday his family will be too.

I hope, that someday, we all are, we all have conquered the menace of evil, because only then will earth be the paradise it was meant to be.

“…’Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far…”

Pray that…

“…let there be revealed once more in the history of the world

the infinite saving power of the redemption: the power of the merciful love.

May it put a stop to evil.”

Prayer for Peace

Pope John-Paul II

…may somehow the taking of Jimmy’s life, save others.

Pray that,

love wins.

Pray that,

the sins end with us, and not our children.

Pray that,

we are not all held accountable for the madness that grips this planet.

Pray that,

Jimmy is safe, and in loving, healing hands.

Pray that,

we can all walk to our boats,

and not be killed.

“…and Grace will lead me home.”

“Amazing Grace”

John Newton

1725-1807

…forgive us our sins.”
